A new year and a new beginning. As most of us are aware, the Tenney Gate House has been somewhat dark and lifeless as of late. There are always reasons for inactivity. I felt it might help to know that things are not always as they appear. The Board of Directors of the Methuen Historical Society has been busy behind-the-scenes in preparation of our re-birth.
Starting back at the end of 2015 we launched the rebranding of the building. We also re-purposed the function of the building as well. Known for many years as the headquarters for the Methuen Historical Society, we decided as a Board, that it was time to utilize the building for utilization and advocacy of our mission as an organization. A great deal of thought was expended on this concept and we are finally watching our efforts come to fruition.
Our re-branding has touched many important aspects of our function. The Methuen Historical Society will continue to hold our meetings at the Tenney Gate House, but the building will soon be unveiled as the Methuen Museum of History. We have changed our name, letterhead, signage and website to reflect our newly embraced purpose. The many long hours of planning, meeting and creating for this new mission in our community has included restoration, repair and construction of a more cohesive display within the building.
Through generous funding from our members and the community, as well as grants from the Methuen Festival of Trees and the Edwin Castle Fund Commission, we have accomplished a great deal! Recent coverage in the Methuen Life publication, as well as a feature story currently running on MCTV channel 22, highlights our many efforts and accomplishments!
The Methuen Museum of History invites you to watch for our Grand Re-opening of our magnificent new museum. We are planning some exciting festivities along with the launch of our new website and a schedule of new activities for the community!
Join us for a celebration of a bright new presence of the Tenney Gate House that will overflow with lively activity and a greater sense of mission and purpose in our community!
